Monday, Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day. To celebrate, many coffee shops are giving away free coffee and have bargains on coffee drinks and specials on coffee and machines to make drinks at home.

How to fix hard brown sugar, bitter coffee and more

From softening butter to saving over-salted soup, these kitchen hacks will help make cooking a breeze.

Coffee prices may be rising, but the pick-me-up remains a daily ritual for two-thirds of Americans. With National Coffee Day brewing on Monday, Sept. 29, many coffee shops will be serving up freebies and specials for those who love coffee.

Coffee’s popularity remains secure with 66% of Americans saying they drink at least one cup daily, up nearly 7% from 2020, according to a survey from the National Coffee Association, released ahead of National Coffee Day. Most coffee drinkers consume more – about 2.8 cups daily – according to a survey of 1,862 U.S. adults conducted in June 2025 for the group by Dig Insights.

While grabbing coffee on the run remains high – 36% of coffee drinkers consume the beverage away from home – most (82%) had the beverage at home over the past day, the survey found.

Shopping for a new coffee maker?: This Keurig K-Iced Essentials machine, which hat serves hot & cold, is on sale.

Coffee continues to reveal some health benefits – including the recent finding of promoting healthy aging in women – however, too much cream and sugar can sneakily add calories.

“Coffee’s staying power as a beloved touchstone in Americans’ daily lives is remarkable, and its contributions to our health and our economy give Americans even more ‘grounds for celebration’ this National Coffee Day and every day,” said National Coffee Association president and CEO Bill Murray in the survey’s news release.

Still, coffee is getting pricier. In August, the average price of a pound of ground roast coffee cost $8.87, up 40% a year ago, when it cost $6.31, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In part due to the weather, but also tariffs.

So a deal or a freebie would help the coffee budget. Here’s a good serving of specials for National Coffee Day, but remember to check the social media account of your favorite local coffee shop for more deals, too.

Grocery prices: Cost of food – coffee included – are jumping up. We explain why.

You can also add a “Dunkin’ Dawn” pink-and-orange color scheme to help you prepare for the day. The add-ons are part of a Hatch+ premium content subscription ($4.99 monthly or $49.99 annually; you get a free 30-day trial with a new Restore device).

The deal is good at any participating Krispy Kreme shop for a free medium hot or iced coffee and a free doughnut of choice, no purchase necessary (good in stores and via drive-thru at participating shops).
